Prineville Reservoir is a scenic eastern Oregon lake consisting of 18 miles of water winding through canyones of juniper and sagebrush hills. The lake offers offers year-round fishing and popular for boating, fishing and other water sports in the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Prineville Reservoir
was created by damming the Crooked River 20 miles upstream from Prineville, OR. About 130 feet in depth at its deepest part, water levels may fluctuate to accomodate irrigation.

There is one private campground/resort and two state parks campgrounds on Prineville Reservoir. Prineville Reservoir Resort offer supplies and fuel.

There are 5 boat ramps on the lake.

Fisheries:
This high desert reservoir on the Crooked River is stocked annually with as many as 170,000 rainbow trout, many of which grow to 14 inches. There are also
large populations of smallmouth bass, black crappie and brown bullhead, and smaller numbers of largemouth bass.
Best fishing is from January through June. Ice fishing can be excellent. There is good bank fishing at Prineville State Park, Jasper Point and at the dam. Crappies are caught in the coves upstream of the resort and off the resort docks. Best bullhead fishing is in May and June and in September. Fish for bullheads by the dam, in the Bear Creek arm, and along the road that runs through the local wildlife area (when it is open). All lake-fishing techniques can be effective; most crappies are caught on worms or small jigs

Powderhouse Cove is a new boat launch facility constructed by the Oregon State Marine Board in 2008.

The Prineville Reservoir Resort has the only full service RV park on Prineville Reservoir. They offer a 70 space RV park including 36 waterfront sites. All spaces have water and electrical hookups. They have a well-stocked convenience store, a complete supply of fishing equipment and tackle. We sell fishing licenses. They also have a comfortable cafe with seating overlooking the Prineville Reservoir. Breakfasts and lunches are served. They also offer a clean, well-kept 7 room motel with supplied kitchenettes in six of the rooms and a large deck with beautiful views of the Prineville Reservoir.

The Prineville Reservoir State Park, part of Oregon's weel developed park system, offers
something for every type of camper. Campsites: 22 full hookup, 22 electrical, 23 tent (maximum site 54 feet); reservable boat moorage; 5 cabins (2 are rustic, 3 are delux). Open year round. To make reservations, call 1-800-452-5687.
